ABOUT THIS SITE

The 'Council Communist Archive' is a collection of materials from and about the German/Dutch Left Communist or 'Council Communist' tendency within the workers movements.

The main purposes of the site is

The original plan for the site was not restricted to the history of 'Council Communism', but also envisaged sections for 'critical Marxist theory' and 'critical analyses of current affairs'. For the moment we leave it to others to combine history and theory into present day activity. Lack of resources forces this site to its somewhat dusty appearance.

The 'Council Communist Archive' does not restrict its space to materials exclusively from the 'Council Communist' or German/Dutch left tradition. Accounts and analyses from other political positions are included as well if they are somehow relevant to the matter and spreads some light to the history of the struggles and political life of the working class.

The primary language of this site is English in order to reach the broadest possible audience. The main language of the German/Dutch or Council Communist tradition is of course German though. So this site may seem somewhat odd mixing the languages. However 'Council Communism' is internationalist by 'nature', i.e. German 'Council Communists' are supposed to understand English and others hopefully will know just enough German to appreciate the site.

And as for language we would like to apologize for all the failing of the right words, spellings, phrases or grammar around here. Neither German nor English is our native language, so errors are inevitable from time to time. We just hope that you can live with that.
